Christina Smith Nominated for Teacher of the Year

Christina Smith was voted by her peers at Chiefland High School (Florida) as the 2009-2010 teacher of the year. She has been teaching for about 10 years as a Business Education Teacher and has contributed greatly to her students, school and local community. Christina is the Technology Coordinator, Academy Program Director, Ready to Work Site Administrator, Chiefland High School Newsletter Advisor, Chiefland High School Webmaster, Chiefland Middle School Webmaster and Levy County Career and Technical Education Webmaster.

In the classroom Christina incorporates reading strategies, CTE strategies, industry certifications, articulated college coursework, Ready to Work credentials, and job shadowing opportunities to all of her students. Outside the classroom Christina continues to attend professional educational training and is currently pursuing industry certifications in Microsoft Office and Adobe software products. She is currently enrolled at USF in the Doctoral Career and Workforce Program specializing in technology.

Christina is a member of Association of Career and Technical Education; Florida Association of Career and Technical Education; International Vocational Education and Training Association; American Education Research Association; and Association for Career and Technical Education Research.
