Kudos to Jake Prokop

Kudos to Jake Prokop! Jake was sponsored by the Florida Association of Career and Technical Education (FACTE) to attend the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) Leadership Training Program beginning at this year's ACTE annual convention, held in November, in St. Louis, Mo. This is a new ACTE program seeking to further develop current state and regional association leaders, while also exposing up and coming leaders to leadership development. Participants in the program had the opportunity to discuss criteria for effective leadership including the value of mission, goals and objectives, the role of governing body, officers and directors; and other organizational, programmatic, financial, communications, and public policy issues. For more details about the program you may visit ACTE’s Leadership Training Program page.

Jake also wrote an article describing the development of a Maritime Academy in Hillsborough County. The academy is being implemented with support from the Helios Foundation. The article was published in the Maritime Log, November 2011 issue. He was also featured as part of a related story broadcasted on WFLA News Channel 8 on November 23, 2011.
